Curriculum: individually planned curriculum to suit needs of each child. practical life skills, imaginative play, preschool maths and language, music, art and craft, science and nature study, project work, cooking, gardening, nature trails, farm visits.

Teaching: individual and group work facilitated by professionally qualified teachers. Special needs well catered for by Montessori Method.

The Montessori Method: The motto for the Montessori approach to learning is “self-development in a prepared environment”. When Maria Montessori discovered the enormous learning potential of young children she devoted her life to providing the right kind of learning conditions. The curriculum is separated into specialised areas which match the learning tasks of the young child.
Children learn how to co-operate with each other and respect their environment. Teachers demonstrate in a humble way how activities should be performed and then allow the children to work on their own, or with each other, practising things of their own choosing, until they feel happy that they have mastered certain skills, after which they move onto others. The emphasis is on learning and achievement. The children’s greatest satisfaction is knowing that they can do things by themselves. This creates an atmosphere of calm, busy activity by very contented and confident children.
