The Penicuik Nursery

At Happitots Day Nurseries we acknowledge that to ensure an excellent standard of care and attention for all our children the most important asset are our staff.

We pride ourselves on keeping our staff long term and many staff are mature mothers or grandmothers themselves. All Happitots staff are either qualified nursery nurses, registered nurses, teachers or undertaking training which will lead to a recognised qualification.

All the staff undergo a thorough induction and have regular appraisals to ensure that all Happitots policies and the highest standards of care are maintained across the group. Staff are encouraged to attend regular courses to update their skills and knowledge and a first aid certificate is essential for all qualified staff.

The managers in each nursery are highly trained in childcare and will each have, or be attending further management courses. The managers and senior staff meet on a regular basis to exchange ideas and experience and we are continually striving to maintain and improve our service, which has earned us the reputation of delivering excellent childcare across Scotland.





Location: The nursery is situated on the Cornbank Estate in the heart of Penicuik. It is situated off the busy main road, therefore very safe for dropping off and picking up children. Parking is available for up to ten cars. The Opening hours: Monday to Friday all year round Full Day Session: 7.30 am to 6.00 pm Morning Session: 7.30 am to 1.00 pm Afternoon Session: 1.00 pm to 6.00 pm Fixed Holidays: 2 weeks over Christmas and New Year Maximum Number of children: 64
		The Outdoor Area The children can go into the garden to let off steam. We have a hard surface area for our push-pull toys, bikes etc. A large climbing frame to encourage gross motor skills is very popular with all the children attending the nursery. This area will quadruple in size with extension

	The Nursery * was established in 1989 but taken over by Happitots in Dec 2002 * has a safe enclosed play area * caters for children aged 6 weeks to 5 years * is in partnership with Midlothian Council to offer grant assisted places for 3-5 year olds
