The Baby Room

In our baby room we have highly experienced staff, (staff ratio 1:3) whose aim is to follow the home routine of each baby as closely as possible. This room is a lovely bright and soft room with a secure sleeping area. The staff’s aim is to provide a variety of stimulating activities in a caring and friendly environment in order to promote the babies all round development. Weather permitting the staff will take the babies out for walks each day so that they get as much fresh air as possible. Your baby will stay in the baby room until they are crawling confidently, usually nine months, when after discussion with you they will be introduced to the adventures of the tweenie room.

The Tweenie Room

The "Tweenie Room" is a large, brightly coloured separate room where the children are cared for under the supervision of experienced staff, (staff ratio 1:3) and there are a range of activities provided for the continuing development of your child. Activities and play equipment promote creativity, co-ordination, manipulation, language development and sensory stimulus.
The period in the Tweenie group provides for a smooth transition to the toddler stage by adopting a more challenging and varied approach to the day. This will include such activities as painting, pasta, jelly play and water, music, climbing etc.

The Toddler Room

When the children turn two, following discussion with yourself and your child’s key worker they will be introduced to the toddler group. Here they will have a more structured day and a much greater choice of arts and crafts, construction activities and tabletop games etc.
They will be introduced to numbers, the written word, and colours etc. and will also enjoy regular visits to the playground at the rear of the building, library and local attractions.

Messy Room (Toddlers)

The Toddler Room is a pleasant and secure base for the safe and stimulating development of your child's social and educational skills. Your child will learn primarily through play. In this environment, the daily programme covers all areas of the child's development and is flexible enough to allow for potty training.
A daily activity sheet will be available to enable you to discuss the day with your child.

Pre-school Room

Your child will spend their pre-school year in the purposefully laid out room where the day will be structured around the curriculum to prepare the children for school.
Whilst the child is still very young and requires plenty of opportunity to play freely, emphasis is placed on learning through structured play and in small groups. The child will experiment with arts and crafts, spend time in the book corner, home corner (role play), cooking and singing and dancing to name but a few activities.
In the computer area IT skills are taught at an early age where the children can take advantage of a selection of educational computer programmes

Pre-school Art Area

We aim to ensure that when children leave the nursery to move on to school they do so confidently and independently, whilst taking with them enjoyment of learning and a pride in their achievement’s. Most children are able to recognise and write their own name, demonstrate good observational skills, some preliminary reading skills, good pencil control, creative skills and knowledge of numbers. They should also have a basic understanding of a variety of life forms, common materials and their properties.

The Book Corner

The purpose of our Book Corner is to stimulate each child's imagination and extend their vocabulary. Children are encouraged to use this area both individually and in group situations where staff will interact appropriately. Good language development is the key to the young child's learning. Through good language experiences children acquire the tools to express their thoughts and feelings. The children are regular visitors to the local library, which is a valuable resource.
