Welcome to The Edinburgh Montessori Nursery

The Nursery formaly known as SmallWorld Nursery was bought over in June 2006.  The new owners have a culmination of teaching experience in a Montessori environment both Nationally and Internationally.  This International environment encourages multilingual children and nationalities, and children with English as a second language.
The Montessori prepared environment is a key factor in a multicultural society and that of which we embrace.
Several staff are of Antipodean background and this is apparent as our garden develops and is used as an outside learning area where children have open access from both the Toddler and Pre-School rooms.
We are committed to providing a Montessori Pre-School environment, taught by trained Montessori Practitioners who are dedicated to the Montessori teaching method and philosophy.
Our Baby and Toddler Rooms are designed to specifically meet the needs of the developing infant overseen by a trained lecturer in Early Childhood Development.
Our Infant/Toddler Rooms are also based on the Montessori philosophy and the intrinsic need for the Infant to form a relationship with their carers.

The Nursery has been operating at 98 Lasswade Road since March 2005. This is on one of the main routes heading towards Edinburgh city centre from the South. There is ample parking space within the grounds and a very good bus service to and from town.

The Opening hours: Monday to Friday all year round

Full Day Session: 8.00 am to 6.00 pm

Morning Session: 8.00 am to 1.00pm

Afternoon Session: 1.00pm to 6.00 pm

Fixed Holidays: closed between Christmas and New Year

Maximum Number of children: 51

The grounds are divided into a very large lawned area from the front to the back of the property and a separate patio area to the back of the property. There is a great deal of outdoor space and the children are taken outside daily unless the weather is too severe.
