Location:

The nursery building is situated in a prime location near the centre of Larkhall. The nursery has its own car park to the front which makes it easy to drop off and pick up.

The Opening hours: Monday to Friday all year round

Full Day Session: 7.00 am to 6.00 pm

Morning Session: 7.00 am to 12.00 pm

Afternoon Session: 1.00 pm to 6.00 pm

Fixed Holidays: Closed Christmas day and re-open 5th January each year.

Maximum Number of children: 74

The Garden

The nursery has a safe enclosed outdoor play area covered in impact absorbing surface to make play both safe and fun. There is a separate garden area where they can grow flowers and vegetables. The care and welfare of our garden pets is part of the children's learning experience..

Big Bird Nursery School Philosophy

A safe secure stimulating and happy environment for each and every child will be the aim of the nursery. The needs, wishes and involvement of both the child and the parents, with the co-operation of the staff, will ensure that this will be achieved. Each child is special, an individual, with their own needs and interests, likes and dislikes, we at the nursery will endeavour to explore their aptitudes and offer appropriate activities which will encourage them to attain their level of achievement. By way of planning daily activities, using a variety of materials, musical instruments, dressing up games and all forms of imaginative play in a setting which will encourage the emotional, social, physical, creative and intellectual development of each child.

The Nursery

* was established in 1998 and came under the wing of Big Bird in 2004

* has achieved the Scottish Independent Nurseries Association Quality Assurance

* is a recognised student training centre with our own assessors

* has a safe secure play area and garden

* has regular outings in mini-bus to local attractions

* includes all meals and nappies in the price

* Not only complies with but exceeds the standards laid down by Environmental Health, Fire Regulations and the provision for full day group care

* has an open door policy which allows parents to regularly meet the nursery management team and discuss their childs progress.
